It is very hard wearing and naturally resistant to stains and scratches. It is an igneous rock of visible crystalline formation and texture. Mainly composed of feldspar, quartz as well as small fractions of mica and minerals such as zircon, apatite, magnetite and sphene. It crystallises from magma that cools slowly deep below the Earth’s surface.

Granite comes in 3 different grain types, fine grain, medium grain and coarse grain.

Having all the above amazing properties does not mean granite should not be sealed. Granite by nature is moisture resistant. Kitchen bench tops and bathroom vanity tops are commonly sealed as these are the areas that can be exposed to a lot of strong chemicals and possible acids.

Due to its toughness Hendra Tile Restoration uses special Solvent Granite Approved Sealers to protect it. Usually 2-3 coats are applied with special treatments in between each coat. Once this is completed, it is very unlikely you will ever need to seal the granite again for many years to come.
